Friendsgiving is a Thanksgiving-themed meal that you share with friends, colleagues, and neighbors! It’s a great opportunity to bring people together for the sharing of a meal and practicing of hospitality.

A Friendsgiving Gathering can be catered to your preferences: you can have as little or as many people as you’d like (anywhere from 3 to 15 is our sweet spot!) and serve a meal according to your preferences and dietary requirements. It’s meant to be fun and we believe that it can be intentional for the sharing of Jesus, because He often gathered around tables and over meals with people like us.

The Plan:

  1. Brainstorm who to invite: be sure to include church friends and non-church friends! This can be neighbors, coworkers, or other people in your day-to-day life who aren’t involved in a church community.
  2. Set the scene: hospitality doesn’t equal performative, but it should be thoughtful! Preparing a meal can be as involved or hands-off as you’d like. You can cook a full Thanksgiving spread, invite your guests to bring dishes (think potluck style!), or order catering.
  3. Host your friends: this is the fun part! We can’t wait to hear about your Friendsgivings and how you are able to bring others into your life and your home. If needed, there are conversation questions below to keep your time together intentional.

The Conversation:

  1. What are you grateful for?
  2. What do you often take for granted?
  3. What does the exercise of regular thanksgiving look like for you?
