Why Small Groups?
Small groups allow you to connect with others in a meaningful way, learn about the Bible, and apply its teachings to your life...moving from mere knowledge to true gospel transformation!
In small groups, we get to practice the ABC's of Christian community: Accountability, Belonging, & Care.
Small Groups provide accountability as you journey with Christ! While accountability might not be a popular idea in today’s culture, it is important for us as we strive to lead gospel-centered lives in today’s world! Small groups help us sharpen one another, encourage one another, and spur one another on towards love and good deeds. (Hebrews 10:24-25)
Everyone longs to truly belong, and the good news of the gospel is that even though you are more flawed than you ever dare admit, you are more accepted and loved in Christ than you ever dared hope! While we pray that our church community embodies this as a whole, small groups help us foster a sense of belonging for everyone at our church.
It’s hard to care for everyone on a macro level, but small groups help scale that down to focus on caring for a few deeply! No one is meant to walk through this life alone. Instead, we are to carry each other’s burdens (Gal 6:2) and small groups makes this possible!
What Types of Groups Do You Offer?
We realize that everyone is at a different place on their spiritual journey, so we don't take a one-size-fits-all approach to small groups. Instead, we offer five unique groups throughout the course of the year:
Alpha Groups
Alpha Groups are for new Christians or even non-Christians, and is intended to help you discover what Christianity is all about! Alpha is a 10-week course and runs twice a year, in February and September.
Community Groups
Community Groups are co-ed Bible Studies that take place in various settings throughout the city. They typically run for around 10 weeks at a time, and new groups begin in February, May, and September.
Discipleship Groups
Discipleship Groups are intended to provide a deeper level of accountability between 3-5 single gender individuals. They have a looser structure, sometimes meeting weekly or even monthly, and happen whenever and wherever is best for those involved in the group.
Theology Groups
Theology groups resemble Sunday-school classes...iykyk. They're taught by a Bible teacher and cover important Christian doctrines to help you grow in biblical understanding. These groups run on a typical semester-basis, in the Fall & Spring.
Spiritual Formation Groups
These groups help you cultivate important spiritual practices and help you grow in the spiritual disciplines (i.e. prayer, fasting, how to read the Bible.) They are shorter, 4-week courses and are offered twice yearly, in January and August.
